This is an old original International Harvester E4A 4-cylinder base mount magneto. It was used on some of the earlier tractors like their 10-20, F-12, F-20, F-30, and several others. It is in good shape with no cracks, breaks, or repairs that I can see or know of other than a small wear spot on the name band. It is clockwise rotation and turns over very nicely. It seems to have very little wear in the bearings. Everything including the impulse seems to work as it should. It has noticeable magnetism. Everything inside the points cover looks to be in good shape. It mounts on a 2 inch square bolt pattern and the mounting threads are in great shape. It has the original drive coupler on it. I checked it for spark and can’t seem to get any. Maybe it needs a good cleaning or adjusting as it’s been sitting for many years. It surely looks good! If it needs to be rebuilt all of the parts are available from the hobby suppliers. These original E4A are not that easy to find in the wild or even at swap meets so if you’ve been looking for one for an authentic restoration here’s a good looking one.
